Awards on crowdsourced journalism open [Africa]

Deadline: 8/21/12

African journalists interested in crowd-sourced journalism are eligible for this award.

The Big Picture Awards, organized by Internews Europe and the International Press Institute, is accepting innovative crowd-sourced journalism project ideas from African media professionals.

Preference will be given to entrants from the project’s target countries, which include the Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya.

The awards consist of a EUR€15,000 (about US$18,500) grant, which will be shared among the top three winners.

Each submission must include a brief summary (not more than two pages long) of a crowdsourced journalism concept proposal that includes a title, objective, proposed tools that will be used, beneficiaries, planned activities, expected results and resources needed.

The application deadline is August 21.
