FAIR Small Grants 2012‏

In our quest to fulfil some of the resolutions from the 2011 AGM, FAIR is inviting applications for small grants to its members to carry out investigations on subjects of their choice.  These are special grants specifically for paid up FAIR members, both professional and associate, who should be on good standing as of 31 January 2012.  The grants will be for a maximum of US$500 and are for expenses only.

Applicants not working for organisations that will publish their stories must negotiate a fee with that publishing house.

Applications must be prepared according to the guidelines for FAIR grants and must meet the criteria set in those guidelines.

Any paid-up member of FAIR is free to apply for the grants.

Applications can be in English, French or Portuguese and only those applications that meet the criteria and comply with all the requirements set in the guidelines will be considered.

For the budget, applicants must please submit their budgets in their local currencies with the US equivalent in brackets. This is to enable us to properly account for the expenses as receipts will be in local currency.

In order to accommodate as many members as possible, preference will be given to projects with smaller budgets, provided they meet all the requirements.

In other words, your budget should not be rounded up to US$500. Only ask for what you really need so that we can spread the money to more members. All the money will have to be accounted for.

Applications should be sent to: admin@fairreporters.org

The deadline for applications is 10 February 2012

All members will be notified about the outcome after adjudication by our Advisory committee.

* Please note, these are special grants organised by the FAIR Secretariat. Normal grants, which go up to $3 000, that are open to all journalists will be announced when funds become available. This means we could end up with more than 20 grants in 2012.
